Stew: an ideal dish for winter

Nutritional assessment of menestra

It is very common to prepare stews, warm and with many ingredients for lunch in these cold days.
One of them is the vegetable stew with meat, egg or even fish (eg tuna Marmite).

Surely in our diets will have enjoyed a few beans, right?
Well today we make a brief description of the menestra nutrition, so you can see how healthy and recommended it can be for all family members.

Usual ingredients usually menestra:
- A base potato
- Mixed vegetables such as carrots, green beans, zucchini, mushrooms, leek, pepper, sometimes even add olives and peas.
- And any ingredients of animal origin such as beef, eggs or fish cooked in some cases.

Knowing this we can determine that it is a balanced dish really, because we found the ideal nutrient distribution of the Mediterranean diet:
* 55-60% carbohydrate, which brings us potato base.
* 12-15% protein, which come from the hand of meat, fish or eggs.
* 30% fat, vehicled in food and olive oil used for cooking.

And thanks to fiber content of vegetables used, we can easily reach half of the recommended daily intake of fiber we need to maintain good health.
It is also important to note that red pepper is one of the foods that contain vitamin C: just 50 g red pepper, get all the Vitamin C you need in a day.

If we accompany the photo plate with a piece of fruit or yogurt as a dessert, we will have a balanced, healthy and very tasty food !!
